Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World in Durban will proudly heed the call for South Africa to ‘fly the flag’ at midday on Tuesday 2 March, beginning the 100-day countdown to the official kickoff of the 2010 FIFA World Cup ™.
The public, special guests and staff are encouraged to don their Football Friday or Proudly South African attire and join in the festivities at the SUNCOAST Amphitheatre in support of this landmark occasion.
SUNCOAST Marketing Manager, Eugene Boniface, said the programme would include a flag raising ceremony, performance of the popular Diski Dance and singing of the National Anthem by SUNCOAST’s staff.
Says Boniface, “We want to show as much support as possible, not only to this event, but to the City of Durban as we prepare to host the world on our doorstep.
“We have achieved so much as a country in the lead-up to this event, and with just 100 days to go to the FIFA World Cup kickoff, SUNCOAST will be playing its role in getting Durbanites into the spirit of the tournament. After all, we’re right next to the Moses Mabhida Stadium where all the FIFA World Cup ™ action will be taking place in Durban,” he said.
The 100 Day Countdown builds on the ‘Fly the Flag’ initiative, which calls for support of Bafana Bafana, and the country’s national symbols and anthem.
Government, FIFA, the Organising Committee (OC), South African Tourism, the International Marketing Council of South Africa (Brand South Africa), and a range of partners have called on corporate South Africa to ensure that 2 March is celebrated with all the passion and vibrancy that the world associates with this dynamic country.
