As part of their local Women’s Day celebrations on 9 August, Blackrock Casino, Hotel  and Entertainment Complex invited a few very special women to enjoy the day with them.

They asked popular television personality, Doreen Morris, image consultant, Anneen le Roux, interior decorator, Cherise Torlage, popular hair stylist, Henry E Wakefield and other guests to host a wonderful morning of fun, relaxation and everything women! Tickets cost R150 per person.

Edgars also sponsored two facial make-overs during the event while the rest of the ladies received a make-over voucher each in their goody bags, which they could use when visiting the Edgars store.

"It was a lovely day and the ladies enjoyed every minute of it,” comments John McGregor, general manager of Blackrock Casino, Hotel and Entertainment Complex. “It is a day to celebrate the achievements of women and when asking ourselves what we could do to make this a day to remember we could not think of anything better than to celebrate it with these inspirational women!

Women’s Day is the story of ordinary women who changed history with their extraordinary and selfless deeds. They fought for the right to participate in a society on an equal footing with men and they gave women all over the world a voice to protest, educate and argue with.

Together, women made their voices heard and today we can celebrate women and the role they play in society. Like Charles Malik once said,”The fastest way to change society is to mobilize the women of the world."
