As part of its bid commitment to the Gauteng Gambling Board, Tsogo Sun invested R400 million in the construction of a world-class convention centre in Sandton. The resulting product is one of the leading convention centres in Southern Africa – not to mention the job creation benefits that have resulted from its inception.

Situated at the heart of Sandton Central, the Sandton Convention Centre is close to all the important financial and industrial concerns in the country. The centre boasts the latest state-of-the-art facilities with in-house technology partners, 22 000 square metres of meeting, exhibition and special-event space, and the ability to house multiple events and up to 10 000 visitors at any one time. Room capacities range from a 10-seat function room to the Pavilion, which can cater for 4 500 cocktail guests.

There are 26 escalators in the two escalator wells of the centre, so delegates can enter and exit the building quickly and efficiently. The Sandton Convention Centre is surrounded by nearly 11 000 parking bays situated in three large parking arcades. The security system is such that the building can be evacuated in a matter of minutes, should the alarm system go off.
