It is this strategic philosophy that resulted in the development of the Teatro at Montecasino, which made it the perfect choice for Disney to bring their spectacular Broadway hit, The Lion King, to South Africa. Disney later went on to partner with Tsogo Sun Gaming in showcasing Beauty and the Beast and High School Musical, to great acclaim.
The Teatro has continued to house some of the best productions in the country – Chicago, Lord of the Dance, Tap Dogs, Swan Lake on Ice, and the highly-anticipated CATS later in 2009.
Events such as BOKTOWN, the South African Tennis Open, the Jozi Comedy Festival, The SA Tattoo, Miss India Worldwide Pageant, Mercury Wine Week, the Lira Jazz Festival, Taste of Jo’burg and the Duke of Edinburg Cup have also been hosted at our properties, to name but a few.
